scaredy squirrel halloween PSA
Over the summer, I animated this short book trailer for Mélanie Watt's latest Scaredy Squirrel book Scaredy Squirrel Prepares for Halloween: A Safety Guide for Scaredies!
Having animated on the TV version of Scaredy for a while in the past, it was a lot of fun to switch things up and animate the (cuter - shhh!) book version of the character. Even more refreshing was switching to a more traditional style. Roughs and timing charts were figured out in Flash, then the whole thing was cleaned up in Photoshop, before moving on to AE for compositing.
The last "film" I made was in 4th year and took me the year to complete, so getting this baby done in under three months (on top my my regular9 to 5 6 to 2 job) was a heck of a step up!

Giraffe In France
My first animated GIF and my first go at pixel art! Super different... but fun!
UPDATE!
Here's the final version, as submitted to Loop de Loop!
Did you know? "Giraffe In France" isn't just a silly combination of words that replaces Graphics Interchange Format. There was actually a giraffe that walked in France back in the day, and it was a pretty big deal. Read up on Zarafa, it's a cool story! It was one of my ideas for a thesis film back in 4th year. Ended up doing something else because... it's a friggin' giraffe, man.

MANiMATE 2012: trickery
PHEW! Had to cut lots of corners, but that's what happens in a 24 hours film! Anyway, this is what came out of this year's MANiMATE...
Time for bed now.

first go at a thinking character in maya
Haven't rendered it out yet, so this playblast file will have to do! Hopefully I'll get to tinker with it some more over the break... Anyone recognize who's doing the voice stuff?

...'nimations
Leaving for Italy tomorrow, so I thought I'd post this while I still had the time. I don't think there's going to be much posting until I come back - so give me 6 weeks and hopefully I'll have plenty of pieces to put up here!
